What is YouTube?
It is a video sharing platform that allows users to upload and share videos while viewers can rate, view, comment and share.
A misconception people have about YouTube is that they don’t know that YouTube is a community just like Facebook and Twitter.
The big difference between YouTube and other social media is that in other social media people don’t listen. In YouTube, people are there to listen.

So how do we tap into this?
We start with keyword research:
The best place for finding keywords is the Google keyword tool. Just do a search on Google with the words: Google Keyword Tool and it should come up first. You can then put in your main keywords for your website and do a search.
There are different types of keywords for your videos:
The first type is keywords related to your niche. So with this, if you use keywords in your video titles that are relevant to your niche, they will come up in the search engine results and you will get more views.
The second type is keywords that have videos which appear in Google search. If you choose keywords that already have video results, if they do then the video’s you create based on these keywords will have a greater chance of getting more traffic.
The third type is current event keywords. Google keeps on top of the current news as people search for it as soon as they hear about it. So if you use a current event keyword in your video it will also give you more traffic.
The last one is related video keywords. If you can find what other people have done that are related to your niche and then use the same keywords, you will come up in the related videos on the right hand side, which will also lead to more traffic.
On YouTube you get statistics for each video. You can see how many views it has, where the traffic comes from, where it’s embedded, it tells you which keywords are working, you can see who is watching the video, their gender, age and location.
